Balule Game Reserve shares an unfenced border with the renowned Kruger National Park and will provide an unforgettable safari experience.
The reserve forms part of the Greater Kruger Park, an open conserved area of approximately 40'000 hectares, along the Olifants River. The reserve is only an hour's drive from two of the main gates to the Kruger National Park. It is in the mixed woodland eco-zone, one of several eco-zones in the lowveld, and the one with the greatest variety of flora and fauna. The landscape is rolling with seasonal rivers draining the area. The region is of granitic origin, with quartz and dolorite intrusions and outcrops.
No fencing between Balule Game Reserve and Kruger National Park means that there is a big ecosystem to be experienced, which is a habitat to all the major animas you expect to see on a safari. This includes the Big Five. The reserve has an impressive hippo and crocodile population. The former can be found wallowing in the river during the day, and the latter can usually be spotted on the riverbanks.
The main lodge is the out come of careful planning and designed in such a way that your interaction with the surrounding nature is prioritized. The lodge includes outdoor communal areas and a boma where guests can sit down to a meal beneath the bright starlit night or have a refreshing breakfast. There is a warm and comfortable indoor dining area as well. You find an indoor and outdoor lounge areas in which to put your feet up. The communal deck has a 9-meter long pool which overlooks the waterhole.
The lodge is not fenced, this means that some of your fellow guests could be curious wildlife.
Bush babies and owls fill the night with their cries and during
the day it is not uncommon to see warthogs and other animals in the grounds around the lodge.
The camp is beautifully situated for wonderful game walks and promises unforgettable sighings be it by vehicle or by foot.
Guests will retreat to the comfortable rooms after a peaceful day enjoying the wonderful nature around.
The rooms are designed to provide you with a pleasant environment in which to unwind and enjoy a peaceful slumber. All rooms are air-conditioned and airy. There is enough sleeping space for two. Each room has two beds which can be transformed into a comfortable double bed. Each bed is protected by a mosquito net and guests will have access to their own private deck. As for the bathroom, each room has both an inside and outside shower, separate toilets and double basin. The rooms are design in such a way that you feel as close to nature as possible.
