The Reserve

Balule Game Reserve shares an unfenced border with the renowned Kruger National Park and will provide an unforgettable safari experience.

The reserve forms part of the Greater Kruger Park, an open conserved area of approximately 40'000 hectares, along the Olifants River. The reserve is only an hour's drive from two of the main gates to the Kruger National Park. It is in the mixed woodland eco-zone, one of several eco-zones in the lowveld, and the one with the greatest variety of flora and fauna. The landscape is rolling with seasonal rivers draining the area. The region is of granitic origin, with quartz and dolorite intrusions and outcrops.

No fencing between Balule Game Reserve and Kruger National Park means that there is a big ecosystem to be experienced, which is a habitat to all the major animas you expect to see on a safari. This includes the Big Five. The reserve has an impressive hippo and crocodile population. The former can be found wallowing in the river during the day, and the latter can usually be spotted on the riverbanks.
